Day 1: Arrival in Jordan

We had a smooth trip from Tuscaloosa to Jordan, over 24 hours in all. We had time to take the Tube into London and take a walk along the Thames. Just FYI, Boxing Day is a real holiday in England, everything's all "boxed up" for the day! It was nice to see the streets empty of the usual crush of traffic.

We arrived in Amman near midnight and were so happy to see our cousin Bill Thomas waiting for us after the Customs station. We all piled into his large SUV (including our 7 bags!) and headed home to their spacious apartment.

After a marathon sleeping session, we awoke at noon and have spent a fun day with Leslie, Gray and Natalie. The surprise of the day--snow! The foods in Jordan are delicious, especially the various breads. The Atkins Diet would fail miserably here.

We're eager to drive out to Mt. Nebo tomorrow. It's going to be a week of adventures in Jordan before beginning the major adventure in Delhi.

Happy Holidays!

Where's New Delhi??

Here's a map of India so you can see where we're going. New Delhi is in the north of India, relatively close to Pakistan. Mumbai (Bombay) is a larger city but New Delhi is the capital. The weather is mild there now, about like Alabama, but will warm up rapidly during the time we're there.

We'll miss our family!!

Ready, Set, Go!

It's mid-December, exams are in full swing, Christmas-ness is swirling all around us, but the main thing on our minds is the TRIP TO INDIA!

Plans are just now falling into place--we're clearly operating on "Indian Time." Suddenly, we're departing on Dec. 25, not Dec. 26. This last minute planning and change of plans is good practice for us. We'll need to be very flexible over the next five months!
